Goget Car Share

Bruce Jeffreys and Nic Lowe who established GoGet CarShare five years ago now have 130 drop-off pick-up locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, and the company recently clocked up its 4000th member. Promoted as ‘the fun affordable way to have the use of a car without owning one’, GoGet CarShare members are individuals not needing or wanting a car every day, or a second car. Organisations too use the fleet.

While drivers benefit from a smooth and seamless service, the technology underpinning all operations – smart card entry, integrated management systems for bookings, reports, incidents and asset management, tracking of cars via RFID technology – is highly complex and logistical.

Clever use of technology won GoGet CarShare the Cisco Award for Best Technology in an SME. The business really took off in 2007, with the milestone acquisition of the 100th car late in the year. Another 60 vehicles this year have brought the tally to 160, with GoGet CarShare achieving its growth targets.

It's all about never giving up!

Life Without Barriers is the only charity to have ever won an Australian Business Award, presented to industry leaders in categories ranging from product excellence to international trade. This was based on a mental health program that involves Life Without Barriers employing individuals who have ‘a lived experience’ of mental illness on a traineeship in Community Services Work. The Community Peer Worker Program utilises these trainees by sharing their knowledge in the induction of new staff, evaluation of mental health services and in de-stigmatising mental illness in the community.

Reliant on volunteers, Lomman has successfully forged a strategic partnership with the University of WA which among other things enables engineering students to participate in projects.
